Our association with Hawaii motivates me to venture into the art of making wooden vases.

Hawaii is blessed with beautiful, exotic flowers. It has a population of mixed cultures that absolutely adore not only the beauty of flowers but also the placement and presentation of them.
The blending of these cultural values is the art form that I try to express.

I choose wood as the medium because I feel that it is most naturally related to flowers. I use built-up components instead of turning wood blocks because the vases look less symmetrical, lighter, more detailed, and offer more shapes. The criteria extends further into the type and size of flowers expected to be used and the occasions in which they are presented.
